Youth Sports & Fitness relies on volunteers to help make our programs a success! Whether you're a parent, service member, retiree, or community member, your time and dedication can have a huge impact on young athletes. 

No experience? No problem! We provide all the training you need.

How to Become a Volunteer Coach

We are always looking for coaches, assistant coaches, referees, and team helpers!

Step 1: Submit a Coaching Application

  • Pick up a hard copy at the Youth Sports & Fitness Office

Step 2: Complete Required Training and Certifications

  • National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) Certification
  • Background Check 
  • CPR and First Aid Training, as needed

Step 3: Get Assigned to a Team

  • Once cleared, you'll be matched with a team based on age group and sport

Other Ways to Volunteer

Not ready to coach? You can still help!

  • Game Day Support. Help with setup, check-in, and concessions

  • Team Parent. Assist with organizing team communications and snacks

  • Referee or Umpire. Ensure fair play and fun competition

Coaching Expectations and Resources

All coaches will:

  • Follow the Youth Sports Code of Ethics

  • Create a positive, supportive environment

  • Emphasize fun and fundamentals over competition

  • Encourage good sportsmanship among players and parents
